Our Pro Choice God
“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, that you and your descendants might live!” Deuteronomy 30:19 NLT
Freedom of choice is probably one of the least understood and most profound articles in God’s “Bill of Rights.”
Although God has put a longing for Him into our hearts and would have all men to be saved by receiving Jesus as Savior, He is not going to force Himself on anyone.
If we choose to reject God’s wonderful gift of salvation and live life in the trivial pursuits of living life controlled by our flesh, the world, or the devil, God respects our choice and even provides a place where we can live lives forever — tormented and separated from Him.
Nobody goes to hell by God’s choice, but by their own choice to reject and continue to live lives separated from God.
Although God makes it perfectly clear that He wants us to seek Him and His righteousness first so that He can add all that we need for living life to the fullest in a love relationship with Him through His Son, God is not going to force His righteousness or His goodness on anyone.
God has made His existence perfectly clear through nature, through His Word, and through His Son. No one is going to have ignorance of God as an excuse for choosing to reject Him.
Our freedom of choice to receive or reject Jesus will stay with us up to the very end of our lives on earth. The thief on the cross validates this truth.
When it comes to being “pro choice,” it is hard to fathom why anyone would choose being pro death over pro life in Christ.
Father, help me to make the right choices. In Jesus’ name, Amen
