Inspections
“Eventually there is going to be an inspection. If you use cheap or inferior materials, you’ll be found out. The inspection will be thorough and rigorous. You won’t get by with a thing.” 1 Corinthians 3:13 MSG
We live in an inspection oriented society. We have inspectors checking food, restaurants, medications, and gasoline pumps.
I especially appreciate that the airplanes I ride in are inspected often. It seems strange that we put such great emphasis on inspecting everything except the most important thing. Read the rest of this entry »
The Joy of Sharing
Read 1 Peter 3:13-22, Psalm 96
The Joy of Sharing
“Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if you are asked about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it.” 1 Peter 3:15 NLT
God has given us all a great desire for interacting with others through a community of interest.
Parents enjoy sharing the problems of parenting with other parents. Stock car enthusiasts love to talk about the races and drivers with other enthusiasts. Whatever vocational, recreational, civic, political, or vocational interests we have, we love to share these interests with others.
It is refreshing and encouraging to hear anyone share their interests about almost anything when they do it with passion and enthusiasm.
It may be part of our tribal instinct to come together to share and address common problems and pool resources in order to solve them.
Talk radio is prospering as people tune in to share or hear shared opinions and comments about practically everything under the sun. There is an internet chat room available to share thoughts about any subject.
If all of this is so true, why is it so hard to share our joy in the Lord and what He has done for us even with other believers? Why can’t we talk about our relationship with God with the same passion and enthusiasm that we have when talking about the car we drive?
Why are we so adept at making cheap conversation about the weather or other things and so bashful when talking about our faith? The fear of rejection and ridicule loom large.
Failing to share what we consider a personal matter without realizing that we may be God’s conduit of making faith in Jesus Christ a personal matter for someone else who desperately needs the Lord is a serious failing.
Father, let me know the joy of sharing my faith with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
