The old Hank Williams hit about being broke is a good reminder that sometimes our spiritual well runs dry. The truth is that although we are filled with the Holy Spirit the instant we are born again, the temptations of the world, our flesh, and the devil are constantly piercing holes in our souls that causes our “living water” to leak. Whether we like to think about it or not, we are all awaiting trial. Some are even in bondage awaiting trial, and, worst of all, we are all as guilty as sin. In fact, we are all guilty of sin!

If we are honest and compare our thoughts, words, and things we’ve done and failed to do with God’s standard of perfection, we have more than enough entries in our sin record to qualify for a lifetime sentence with no hope of parole. Read the rest of this entry »

Levels of Life

“Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” Romans 12:2 MSG

Life is all about levels. We have levels of maturity, levels of achievement, and levels of prosperity.

We go from one grade level to the next in school. We participate in athletics from pick up games to organized competitions on the grade school, high school, college, and sometimes professional level. Read the rest of this entry »
