Read Romans 8, Psalm 119:40-45
The Emancipation Proclamation

“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” John 8:36

“And by virtue of the power and for the purpose aforesaid, I do order and declare that all persons held as slaves within said designated States and parts of States are, and henceforward shall be, free;” (Abraham Lincoln, September 22, 1862)

Actual and spiritual slaves sometimes both have the same trouble. They cannot handle freedom. When Lincoln abolished slavery and declared all slaves free, many just stayed where they were and as they were. Often prisoners commit crimes to get back into prison because they cannot handle their freedom on the outside. Read the rest of this entry »
