Inspections

“Eventually there is going to be an inspection. If you use cheap or inferior materials, you’ll be found out. The inspection will be thorough and rigorous. You won’t get by with a thing.” 1 Corinthians 3:13 MSG

We live in an inspection oriented society. We have inspectors checking food, restaurants, medications, and gasoline pumps.

I especially appreciate that the airplanes I ride in are inspected often. It seems strange that we put such great emphasis on inspecting everything except the most important thing. Read the rest of this entry »

Checkups and Inspections [2 Corinthians 13:5-10, Psalm 105]

Checkups and Inspections

Sorry No audio today…

“Because you have obeyed my command to persevere, I will protect you from the great time of testing that will come upon the whole world to test those who belong to this world.” Revelation 3:10 NLT

We live in an age of check ups and testing. Everything from the cars we drive to the meat we eat are checked and rechecked.  Preventative maintenance has become a big business.

Doctors keep us coming in regularly to check our eyes, our cholesterol, our weight, and monitor all sorts of things through various tests.

If believers monitored their spiritual health as well as they monitor their physical health and the health of their automobiles, boats, and other toys, this world would be a much better place.

The salvation is just the beginning of our new life in Christ. Spiritual maturity is custom designed by God to grow us into the fullness of Christ.

God is continually monitoring our minds and hearts and is pleased when they are “stayed on Him.”
He is continually inspecting our fruit to see that it is not corrupted by the drought of doubt or the worms of worry.

God knows exactly how to “take us down a notch” when our pride gets too obnoxious to Him. He knows exactly how to heal our hurts when people and circumstances disappoint us.

We monitor our spiritual health by judging ourselves. When we know we have fallen short of the glory of God and confess and repent, we eliminate the need for God to have to chasten us.

How are we doing in our fruit garden compared to a year ago? How much better do we know God through Jesus than we did a year ago? How much stronger is our faith than a year ago? What sins have we overcome by grace of God? What do we need to work on?

Father, cover my weaknesses with Your strength and let me daily maintain and grow in my relationship with You.    In Jesus’ name, Amen.
