“Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds.” Hebrews 10:24 NLT
There is a power too often ignored and too little used in the lives of believers. This power can change lives, strengthen relationships, and accomplish miracles. This power is available for everyone to generate, and for everyone to receive. It is the power of positive reinforcement, or of edification which means building up.
The formula is not all that complicated. We start by demonstrating love and being sensitive to the weaknesses of others so that we do not become stumbling blocks.
We add participation in edifying corporate worship and fellowship with other believers where we can grow with each other in unity of faith, knowledge, spiritual maturity – into the fullness of Christ.
The bond that is built through encouraging others is a bond that is not easily broken. Knowing that someone cares and believes in us makes it much more difficult to fall into a sin trap that would betray that trust.
God continues to supply manna from heaven to His children to feed and nourish us in His love, so that we can nourish and love others. He often chooses to nourish us through His Word. Sometimes He uses us to nourish others, and others to nourish us through the power of positive reinforcement.
Who can you bless through an encouraging word, an act of kindness, or a demonstration of love or concern today?
Father, help me to use the power of edification to bless others, In Jesus’ name, Amen
