“Store your treasures in heaven, where they will never become moth-eaten or rusty and where they will be safe from thieves. Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be.” Matthew 6:20,21 NLT

The reality of judgment day should give us all cause to ponder. We will go to stand before the righteous judge clothed in the righteousness of Christ which we received as a free gift by faith, but we still must give an account of the stewardship of our lives.

The big car we drove, the money we made, the trophies we won, and all of the achievements that the world uses to define success are going to burn away like wood, hay, and stubble.

The hours spent in the vast wasteland of movies and TV will not win any awards from God. The hours spent comforting those who mourn, visiting the sick and those in prison, raising godly children, and making disciples are the things that God promises to reward.

The dollars spent on the toys of life and selfish pursuits are not going to fill any storehouses in heaven. Feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, and being generous with God on every occasion is how we send our treasures ahead.

The squandering of the talents God has given to glorify ourselves instead of using them as a witness and sacrifice of praise to the Lord short circuits God’s plans for us to be fruitful in good works that glorify Him and allow Him to achieve His purposes through us.

Could there really be anything sweeter than hearing “well done” from the one who did it all for us? Isn’t it time to start thinking about the future and bearing some fruit of righteousness that will remain after the straw has been burned away?

Father help me to better use my time, talents, and treasures to serve and glorify You while there is still time In Jesus strong name, Amen

Until next time…
Timothy Caron
