Don’t Die Without It

Read Hebrews 11, Psalm 119:6-13
Don’t Die Without It

“I assure you, anyone who doesn’t have their kind of faith will never get into the Kingdom of God.” Mark 10:15 NLT

From the very beginning, God has made it very clear that we must have the key element of faith if we are to enjoy His fellowship and His blessings. The difference between Cain and Abel’s sacrifices was the key element of faith.

Everyone has faith in something or someone, if only themselves. Ninety percent of everyone, including even the devil, believes in God.

The problem is in what kind of faith we have. Anything short of saving faith in God through believing in Jesus Christ will not satisfy the longing for God that He has placed in the heart of every child born of woman.

To say we have saving faith without showing any evidence of the sanctifying faith that comes with it is pure rubbish. Unless our faith results in a changed heart evidenced by changed conduct and changed perspectives, we are still dead and have not been truly born again. (As James said, “Faith without works is dead.”)

The reality of physical death is something that we all have to realize.

When the time comes for us leave this world, all of the worldly possessions along with all of faith we had in ourselves and other people is not going to amount to anything. We came into the world naked and are going to leave naked.

The great gift of salvation and the wonderful robe of righteousness that it provides is not something we should wear on Sundays and put in the closet the rest of the week.

It is something that we should keep clean by the daily cleansing of confession and repentance.

We dare not be caught without it when the time comes for us to leave this temporary home.

Father, let me never leave behind or lay aside my shield of faith for any one or any thing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The State of Our Union

Read Colossians 2, Psalm 133
The State of Our Union

“I don’t want to hear any of you bragging about yourself or anyone else. Everything is already yours as a gift—Paul, Apollos, Peter, the world, life, death, the present, the future—all of it is yours, and you are privileged to be in union with Christ, who is in union with God.” 1 Corinthians 3:21 MSG

The president of the United States has been giving annual State of the Union addresses either in person or in writing since 1790. They have mostly been a laundry list of things that have been done and need to be done in every area of government. Read the rest of this entry »
