Practical Christianity

“I am overwhelmed with joy in the LORD my God! For He has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom in his wedding suit or a bride with her jewels.” Isaiah 61:10 NLT

We are made holy in God’s sight the minute we receive Jesus Christ as our Savior. This is our position spiritually, and this is the holiness which makes it possible for us to see the Lord in heaven.

Becoming holy in the sight of those around us is the essence of practical Christianity. The Holy Spirit comes to live inside of us to begin the ongoing transformation from sinner to saint, as God conforms us into the image of Christ by the incredible power and strength of the Holy Spirit.

In God’s sight we are instantly sanctified and being made holy day by day, month by month, and year by year as evidenced of the lives we lead as professing Christians growing into the fullness of Christ. Practical Christianity is not only “talking the talk,” but “walking the walk” of faith, obedience, humility, and purity.

Practical Christianity is proven by our reflecting the Love of God to others. We will bear the fruit of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

As temples of the Holy Spirit we need to keep our temples clean through the daily cleansing of confession and repentance.

The good news is that we don’t have to become practical Christians in our own strength. This is the work of the Holy Spirit, who will guide us into all truth, and give us the power to live holy lives as ones set apart for the glory of God.

Father, lead me along the paths of righteousness. In Jesus’ name, Amen
