Faithfulness We Can Trust
Read 2 Timothy 1, Psalm 136
Faithfulness We Can Trust
“I am the LORD,” He says, “and there is no other. I publicly proclaim bold promises. I do not whisper obscurities in some dark corner so no one can understand what I mean. And I did not tell the people of Israel to ask me for something I did not plan to give. I, the LORD, speak only what is true and right.” Isaiah 45:19 NLT
We seem to live in a world of broken promises. Two out of every three couples break their marriage promises.
Politicians continue to break promises they made in order to get elected. Relative truth seems to also mean that promises are no longer relative.
The truth is that we are never going to find any perfect person we can trust to never disappoint or let us down, and we are going to disappoint and let others down in one way or another, as well.
The Good News is that we can trust the faithfulness of God. His love is unconditional and everlasting. His promises are sure.
God’s faithfulness is recorded throughout Scripture. Today’s Psalm is a litany to His enduring love and faithfulness. He has delivered, forgiven, and restored His chosen ones since the beginning of time.
Jesus Christ is the Living Testament to the faithfulness of God. He is God Incarnate, the living Word, and the promised Redeemer who died for our broken promises so that we wouldn’t have to.
In this world of make believe and broken promises, isn’t it great to know that we have
an all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever- faithful God whose promises are sure and who loves us with an everlasting love no matter what?
Father, I thank and praise You for your faithfulness. By the power of the Holy Spirit living within me, may I always know that I can trust you in every area of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen
