Inspections

Read 1 Corinthians 3, Psalm 96
Inspections

“Eventually there is going to be an inspection. If you use cheap or inferior materials, you’ll be found out. The inspection will be thorough and rigorous. You won’t get by with a thing.” 1 Corinthians 3:13 MSG

We live in an inspection oriented society. We have inspectors checking food, restaurants, medications, and gasoline pumps.

I especially appreciate that the airplanes I ride in are inspected often. It seems strange that we put such great emphasis on inspecting everything except the most important thing.

Instead of spending so much time inspecting and judging other people, we need to be inspecting ourselves and measuring our progress in how much we’re growing in spiritual maturity and into the fullness of Christ.

Daily recognition, confession, and repentance of our sins will halt or slow their progression.
When we judge and correct ourselves, God won’t have to, and we can escape some of the chastening that our loving heavenly father metes out as needed.

Daily retrospection of our day’s activities should not neglect reflecting on what we have learned or how we have grown in our friendship with, and knowledge of, Jesus.

We can never thank God enough for calling us into a saving relationship through faith in His Son, but living a life of celebration, praise, and service to Him will prepare us for the ultimate inspection.

When Jesus inspects what we have done with the time, talents, and treasures God has given us,
His “well done thou good and faithful servant,” will be the greatest music our ears have ever heard.

Father, Help me to build wisely on the firm foundation you have provided that I might be ready for the ultimate inspection. In Jesus’ name, Amen
