Lenses

Read 1 John 3, Psalm 17
Lenses

“For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.” 1 Corinthians 3:12

How do you view life? What lenses are you seeing through?

Close up viewing often blinds us to the bigger picture of life. We can begin focusing on ourselves, our work, our treasures, and pleasures so closely that we can never see beyond.

Our telescopic lens is great for seeing the big picture of where we would like to go and who we would like to be, but it often leaves us clueless as to how to get there.

The lens of faith enables us to believe what we cannot see and allows us to claim all of the wonderful promises of God for our lives.

The lens of hope will allow us to view life with that Christian optimism that affirms our faith that we do have a future and a hope.

The lens of love helps us to see God clearly and to love Him dearly. It helps us to see others as Christ sees us and to respond to His love for us by loving others as we are commanded.

We sometimes need lens filters to blot out the besetting sins that cloud our vision and darken our understanding.

We need the lens of optimism that will allow us to see glasses that are half full instead of half empty.

Perhaps most of all, we need to filter our views through the filter of holiness, without which we will never really see God.

Father, thank you for opening my eyes to Your love. Help me to continually seek to see and live Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen
