What Time Is It?
“For God says, ‘At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.’ Indeed, God is ready to help you right now. Today is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2 NLT
“God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11
We all ask or think this question often in the course of a day or night, and the answer depends on where we are physically as relating to Eastern, Standard, Daylight, or universal Greenwich Mean Time.
Time is also used in terms of seasons, stages of life, and history. The railroads used to pride themselves upon running on time. Airlines used to stress on-time arrival until they got so bad that they quit bringing it up.
We all need to understand and strive to live on Heavenly Standard Time. God has put us here for purposes for which He created us. He will hold us all accountable for our faithfulness and our fruitfulness in using the time He gives us.
We have a timeless God who has prepared a timeless eternity for us in heaven and a timely process through which we will grow into the image of Christ during our presence on this earth.
When we run on Heavenly Standard Time, we run life powered by the Holy Spirit who has been given as a guarantee that we will win the race and receive not only the gift of eternal life but the prizes that await all who have managed the Lord’s business well.
When we live by God’s standards, controlled by the Spirit, we will no longer be held captive to our flesh and the consequences of living in the sin and corruption of the world.
When Jesus’ ways become our ways by faith as we grow and abide in Him, we are going to have the time of our life living on Heavenly Standard Time.
Father, keep me ever mindful that my time is in Your hands and help me to make the most of it by glorifying You in all that I do. In Jesus’ name, Amen
