OJT

“God is educating you; that’s why you must never drop out. He’s treating you as dear children. This trouble you’re in isn’t punishment; it’s training.” Hebrews 12:7 MSG

Most of us have gone through some sort of on the job training sometime. All of us need to go through what a friend of mine called “own the job training.”

What a difference there is when we go to work, school, or through our daily life with an “own the job training” attitude.

When we take ownership of our position on a team and train accordingly, we are going to be better players.

When we get up in the morning and do life with the understanding that we own our jobs as followers of Christ and children of God, we begin doing life God’s way by the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.

When we own up to the fact that God is serious about us taking ownership of our salvation through faith in Jesus, we will also have to own up to the fact that He takes sin seriously. His command to not only be a disciple but to make others disciples is not just a suggestion but a command.

Our own the job training in becoming imitators of Christ and growing into His fullness involves growing inwardly as we learn to trust and obey God through reading, hearing, and inwardly digesting His Word.

We are also called to own the job training out in the world of everyday life, where we learn to love people because God loves them. We should be ever mindful of others need for a Savior and should help and encourage them to find Jesus.

Father, help me to grow into the image of Your Son through daily own the job training. In Jesus’ name, Amen
