Caring by Sharing

“Don’t forget to do good and to share what you have with those in need, for such sacrifices are very pleasing to God.” Hebrews 11:16 NLT

When it comes to showing that we care, we need to be generous, sharing people.

We usually think of sharing in terms of physical things such as food, money, or other possessions. These are all good things to share, but they are not always what are needed most.

What the world needs most is the “love sweet love” which we have gained by receiving God’s love through faith in Jesus Christ and sharing this love with others.

When we spread this love in a caring way by sharing how the Good News has changed our life and blessed us so richly, we are caring for the souls of people and the needs of their souls.

When we visit the sick or those in prison, we are caring by sharing God’s love through comforting and encouraging them.

We can care for others by sharing our time or talents with them in a way that ministers to them and serves them.

Sharing is a great antidote for selfishness or greed. It is living out the love of Christ by being other-centered instead of self-centered.

We all too often like to share our complaints and prejudices as a means of validating or justifying them. There is generally not a lot of caring shown in these pursuits.

Jesus reminds, “If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all” (Mark 9:35b). This should be the guiding principle for all to show their caring by sharing.

Father, help me to be a carer and sharer, just like Jesus In Jesus’ name, Amen
