Going Home for Christmas? [Ephesians 3:17-20, Psalm 90]

Read Ephesians 3:17-20, Psalm 90
Going Home for Christmas?

“But God removed him from the kingship and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, ‘David son of Jesse is a man after my own heart, for he will do everything I want him to.’”
Acts 13:22

“Lord, through all the generations you have been our home!” Psalm 90:1 NLT

Christmas is the busiest travel season of the year. Buses, trains, airplanes and highways are jammed with travelers scurrying to get home in time to spend Christmas with family loved ones.

Christmas is a time for shared blessings and shared joys. For too short a period of time, there is sort of coming together among friends and strangers alike and there is a sweet savor of peace and good will.

Christmas can and should be the greatest time of all when we let it remind us of our coming home to God.

God came down from all of the perfection of heaven to show us how to come home to the heart of God through a personal relationship restored by faith in Jesus Christ, who came to show us God’s heart manifested by His love, His Grace, His Mercy, and the wonder working power of His Spirit.

“And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him.”
Ephesians 3:17a NLT

We all like sheep have gone astray, and even after we enter the sheep fold of the Good Shepherd that assures us of the joy of heaven when we die, we still need to come home to the heart of God through daily confession and repentance so that we can know the blessings of obedience and fulfillment in accomplishing God’s purposes for us in this life on earth.

As we prepare to go home this Christmas, let’s make sure that we prepare our hearts anew for going home to the heart of God from whom all blessings flow and be sure to ponder what Christmas is really all about.

Father, let me daily come home to your heart through obedience. Amen
May the Lord bless and keep during this joyous celebration of Our Saviors birth.
Tim
