The Double Standard

Are you living a double life?

“The LORD despises double standards of every kind.” Proverbs 20:10 NLT

May we all cut through the double talk and double standards of the world and believe that Jesus is the only way, truth, and life.

Although the playing field of life continues to become more level, we are still a world of double standards.

There is still a double standard in wages and positions between men and women and between the white majority and ethnic minorities.

There is also the double standard between the world and God.

The world says take all you can get – God says share all you have been given. The world says the one with the most toys wins – God says the one with the most faith wins. The world says it’s all about you, God says it’s all about Him.

Double standards often lead to double mindedness. As we coexist in our corruptible flesh with our incorruptible spirit, we often allow the the flesh to bring out the worst in us, instead of letting the power of the Holy Spirit bring out God’s best in us.

There are many even within churches who are trying to lower God’s standards in the name of love and inclusion.

Although our God is an equal opportunity God, He does have a double standard between believers and unbelievers.

To those who believe that they are sinners, whose sins have been forgiven, and that they have received a new birth and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ, God gives the keys to His kingdom for now and forever.

To those who reject God’s call to salvation and insist on wandering aimlessly lost in a life of unbelief, God gives a one way ticket to a kingdom of darkness and the eternal torment of hell.

Father, may I never compromise your standards by buying into the standards of the World. In Jesus’ name, Amen
