“God makes homes for the homeless, leads prisoners to freedom, but leaves rebels to rot in hell.” Psalm 68:6 MSG
What does freedom mean? During the revolutionary war, it meant being free from the tyranny and control of the King of England. To a slave, it meant being set free from the ownership and control of an earthly master. To the addict, it means being free from bondage and dependency upon drugs or some other controlling substance.
To the ACLU and apparently many of our federal judges, freedom does not mean freedom of religion but freedom from religion and the moral responsibility that it encompasses.
To the believer, true freedom is the realization that sin has no more dominion over us. It no longer has the power to destroy us and our relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Because we know that there is no longer any condemnation by God for those who are in Christ, we are able to grow into the fullness of Christ by no longer being slaves to sin but slaves to Christ.
As long as we offer ourselves to God and walk in His freedom, we will never use our freedom to sell ourselves back into slavery to sin. We are free to do whatever we want to do, because when we submit to the control of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we will want to live lives pleasing to God and be fruitful in every good work.
Freedom sometimes takes a lot of getting used to. Although we are freed from the control of sin when the Holy Spirit calls us to faith in Christ, we often revert to our flesh mode as we grow in spiritual maturity. We need the daily cleansing of confession, repentance, and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit to keep us living in the freedom that was purchased for us on the cross.
Pray with me
Father, help me to enjoy the joy that comes from living in the freedom I have received to honor and glorify You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Very interesting and amusing subject. I read with great pleasure.
