“And she brought forth her first born Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” Luke 2:7

It is no fun to be on the road late at night, worn out from a long trip, and no place to stay. For those of us who have been there and done that, we can better relate to Joseph’s predicament in trying to find some place to spend the night.

Most all of His life on earth and up to this very day, Jesus still has the same problem.

The religious leaders of the day were so self absorbed in religion that they had no room for God when He came calling. Jesus stands at the door and knocks today, and many will not even open the door.

Today, the preoccupation with Christmas preparations takes up so much of our time, talents, and resources, leaves little or no room for the real reason for the season.

The world seems to be doing its best to see that there is no room for Christ at Christmas. His birthday can no longer be celebrated in our schools. He has been X’d out and reduced to Xmas in many circles. He has been taken out of the equation in too many quarters.

How about you? After all the shopping till you drop, out decorating the neighbors, and partying in the wrong places, have you any room for Jesus in the Inn of your heart?

Have the “glad tidings of great joy” become the sad tidings of great debt? Is this the time to pray: “restore unto me the joy of my salvation.”

Is this the time for a spiritual house cleaning to make more room in our hearts for the one who came to make room in heaven for us?

Prayer:
Father, help me to be sure to make plenty room in my heart for you this Christmas and every day of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen

Until next time…
May the Lord Richly Bless You
Brother Tim
